Award
The SBCF 2023 thesis prize was awarded to Alexis LEBECQ for his work entitled “Interplay between the phosphoinositides and the plant cytoskeleton during plant cytokinesis in Arabidopsis thaliana“. He completed his thesis under the supervision of Marie-Cécile Caillaud in the laboratory Reproduction and Development of Plants at ENS de Lyon. His thesis work on the Arabidopsis model led to the development of an inducible system for the specific depletion of PI(4,5)P2 at the plasma membrane, an innovative and evolutionary tool made available to the plant science community. This work has also enabled us to decipher the regulation and function of PI(4,5)P2 at the membrane via its metabolism, and to study key factors in cell division. The exceptional nature of the results obtained, with four main publications, has retained the attention of the jury.
