Pr Frederic BATTEUX, MD, PharmD, PhD, is board certidied in clinical pathology and is specialized in Immunology. He holds an MD and a PhD obtained in 2001 and 2008 from Paris Descartes University and Medical School and a pharmD obtained in 2001 from Paris Sud University. He has a fulltime position as professor in Immunology at Paris DescartesMedical School and is the head of the clinical laboratory of immunology at Cochin Hospital, APHP, Paris. He is also the head of the Researdh Team “Free radicals, inflammation and cancer” at the Cochin Institute, a biomedial research center affliliated to INSERM (Unit 1016), CNRS (UMR 8104) and the University Paris Descartes, UPD (UMR-S 1016). Professor Batteux has published over 150 international articles in Pubmed-referenced journals in the fields of systemic autoimmune disorders, inflammation and cancer. Professor Batteux serves as the Medical Director of the “Hotel Dieu de Paris”, the oldest hospital in Paris, founded in 651 AD, and located in the center of Paris on the Ile de la Cité. While having been destroyed several times by fires, the architecture of the present building dates back to 1877. As a result of its central location, the hospital has always been closely associated with tragic as well as joyous events of the catpital. Its claim to fame comes from supporting charity and from the exceptional quality of the doctors and surgeons who cared for the patients, while also teaching and researching in their fields of expertise. Bichat, Dupuytren, Desault, Recamier, Dieulafoy and Trousseau are among the many distinguished names. The Hôtel Dieu has acquired a reputation for excellence in many fields and especially in ophthalmology, endocrinology, nfectiology and oncology. The Hôtel Dieu de Paris benefits from a complete rehabilitation to become the outpatients care hospital for the center of Paris covering a broad diversity of clinical fields of medicine and mental health. This hospital is also a national reference research and clinical center for public health. Frederic Batteux has been elected in steering committee of Paris Descartes Medical School and serves as Vice Dean for International Affairs.
