The 3rd European Workshop on AMPK is the continuation of very successful biennial series, which has been initiated by Dietbert Neumann (University of Maastricht) in 2013. With the recent exciting advances in our understanding of the regulation and function of the energy sensor AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), it became evident that an European workshop bringing together experts in the field of AMPK was necessary to foster interactions and encourage the sharing of knowledge and data. This biennial European workshop is intended as a complement to the International AMPK meeting held every even-numbered year since 2000. Following the first two editions in Maastricht, The Netherlands, the 3rd edition will take place in the beautiful Mediterranean island of Porquerolles in France, on September 10th to 13th, 2017.
This Workshop aims to bring together leading experts and young emerging scientists interested in the biology of AMPK. The scientific program will explore cutting-edge aspects of AMPK biology through five original sessions. The program will focus on original and novel questions regarding AMPK, its roles in health and disease, and its potential as a drug target. In the spirit of previous installments, the opportunity will be given to young researchers and investigators to present their ongoing research and recent findings. Plenty of time will be reserved for interactive discussion through poster sessions and social events will allow for more discussions and making new contacts.
