I am a US doctoral candidate in the United Kingdom. I completed a Master's degree in neuroscience studying autophagy and its potential role as a therapeutic strategy for neurodegenerative diseases and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology in the USA. Currently, as a doctoral researcher, I am working on using quartz capillary solid-state nanopores for the characterisation of amyloids for single-cell probe for functional and cytotoxic studies. So far, I have obtained robust results characterising variants of α-synuclein, β-amyloid, globular proteins, and DNA of varying topology. In addition, I also use atomic force microscopy to investigate the structure of amyloid fibrils such as variants of α-synuclein. My previous research experience includes interrogation of the biophysical binding properties of glutamate receptors, genetic engineering for systems neuroscience studies, mechanisms underlying synaptic plasticity, addiction via the limbic system VTA-NAc dopaminergic pathway, development of a novel form of optogenetic assay technique, biophysical processes governing cellular protein localization and distribution, and oxidative stress.
