À propos
Mounia Chami received her Doctoral degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Paris XI. Under the guidance of Prof Cristian Bréchot, she investigated the mechanisms underlying apoptosis associated with hepatitis B and hepatitis C viruses. She subsequently joined the laboratory of Prof. Rosario Rizzuto at the University of Ferrara with an EMBO postdoctoral fellowship. Later, she obtained a Junior INSERM researcher contract and joined the laboratory of Prof Patrizia Paterlini-Bréchot. During this period, Mounia Chami specialized in subcellular calcium signaling and the dynamics and functions of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria. Mounia Chami was later appointed as a team leader at the Italian Institute of Technology in the Department of Neuroscience, headed by Prof Fabio Benfenati, where she initiated her research on Alzheimer’s disease (AD). She then obtained a permanent INSERM senior researcher position.
Mounia Chami is an INSERM research Director and head of AlzPark team. She led research projects exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying AD development.
