The focus of our studies concerns primarily the mechanisms of action of bacterial toxins, particularly those produced by Clostridium botulinum, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus anthracis. We study how these toxins disrupt the cellular cytoskeleton, morphology, and the state of cell differentiation, leading to the development of acute diseases or those that progress with aging, particularly colorectal cancer. A significant part of our research aims to develop detection methods and countermeasures targeting bacterial toxins and toxico-infections, with expected applications in oncology.
