We are pleased to inform you that  the 11th European Conference on Tetraspanins will take place in Montpellier , from 17 to 19 September 2025.

Please visit the conference website at https://tsmontp.sciencesconf.org/ for more information and registration, and pass this information on to colleagues who may be interested in attending.

Genetic studies in mice and pathological mutations in humans have highlighted the crucial functions of specific tetraspanins in physiological processes, including immunity, brain and kidney function, vision, muscle regeneration, and reproduction. Many tetraspanins are also involved in cancer progression and facilitate infection by various pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Moreover, three tetraspanins—CD9, CD81, and CD63—are routinely used as markers to identify and purify extracellular vesicles secreted by most cell types. At the cellular level, tetraspanins play a critical role in regulating the trafficking and function of associated proteins and contribute to various membrane remodeling processes. Given their broad functions, tetraspanins are considered promising therapeutic targets in various diseases.

The invited speakers will cover many recently discovered aspects of tetraspanins of interest for cell biologists such as, among others, their role in the formation and function of extracellular vesicles, their impact on various membrane properties, as well as ectodomain shedding, a process required for the secretion of various surface proteins and Notch activation.

Note that more than 20 oral presentations, open to both senior and junior scientists, will be chosen from abstracts. The deadline for submission of oral presentations is July 31, and that for poster presentation August 31.

We look forward to welcoming you in Montpelier next September.
