La SBCF a le grand plaisir d’attribuer son prix de thèse 2025 à Louise Fougère pour ses travaux de thèse menés sur le modèle Arabidopsis.
Louise a réalisé son doctorat au sein du laboratoire de biogenèse membranaire à Bordeaux (UMR 5200 Université de Bordeaux / CNRS), sous la direction du Dr Yohann Boutté. Ses travaux ont permis de mettre en évidence, pour la première fois chez les plantes, l’existence d’un réseau tubulo-vésiculaire intermédiaire reliant le réticulum endoplasmique à l’appareil de Golgi, réseau particulièrement dynamique et dépendant des lipides. Grâce aux outils méthodologiques innovants en imagerie et en biologie cellulaire qu’elle a développés, Louise a montré que ce réseau interagit avec des Golgi préexistants et contribue à la formation de nouvelles citernes cis du Golgi, nourrissant les réflexions et débats actuels sur les mécanismes de maturation du Golgi. Ces travaux originaux constituent une avancée conceptuelle majeure en biologie cellulaire, bien au-delà du champ végétal, et ont donné lieu à des publications de tout premier plan, notamment dans « Nature Cell Biology ».

Louise Fougère, winner of the SBCF PhD award 2025
The SBCF is delighted to award its 2025 PhD Prize to Louise Fougère in recognition of her doctoral research conducted using the Arabidopsis model.
Louise completed her PhD in the Membrane Biogenesis Laboratory in Bordeaux (UMR 5200, University of Bordeaux / CNRS), under the supervision of Dr Yohann Boutté. Her work led to the first identification in plants of an intermediate tubulo-vesicular network linking the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus, a highly dynamic and lipid-dependent structure. Through the development of innovative methodological tools in imaging and cell biology, Louise demonstrated that this network interacts with pre-existing Golgi stacks and contributes to the formation of new cis-Golgi cisternae, thereby fueling ongoing discussions and debates on the mechanisms of Golgi maturation. These original findings represent a major conceptual advance in cell biology, extending well beyond the plant field, and have resulted in high-profile publications, notably in Nature Cell Biology.
